Sonali Nag’s research on reading acquisition in Kannada language attempts to fill an important gap which exists regarding our knowledge about the acquisition of Indian Scripts. In this piece, she talks briefly about this longitudinal research- the nature of the Kannada script, the ways in which it is learnt by children and how it’s different from the English language script.
